In 2010, the Mt. Lebanon Fire Department received the Governor’s Award for Local Government Excellence  for Innovative Community and Governmental Initiatives for its use of information technology in the fire department.  The Governor’s Award for Local Government Excellence recognizes local governments and officials that have found creative ways to improve their communities. The awards ceremony was held in April during Local Government Week.
