Home fire safety inspections are conducted, by request, throughout the year to reduce the number of fire and safety-related hazards in the home. Trained fire fighters survey the property and provide written recommendations to improve safety conditions while offering fire safety awareness advice.
Home safety inspections include, but are not limited to, the following: street numbers posted and visible from street; all outside exits unblocked; second exit from each bedroom, windows operate with ease; circuit breaker box in good condition; circuit breakers are marked indicating use; appliances, lighting fixtures, switches and receptacles appear in good condition; no extension cords used as permanent wiring; gas appliances, heaters vented to outside and working properly; smoke detectors mounted properly outside sleeping areas and on each level.; combustibles stored away from potential ignition sources; family practices home escape plan; hot water temperature at or below 120 degrees Fahrenheit; and Carbon Monoxide not present.
