Special Needs Program
The Special Needs Assessment Program enables the fire department to identify dwellings containing persons who are unable to exit or require additional assistance to exit the building in the event of a fire, i.e. MR, autism, deaf, blind, wheelchair bound, medical condition, etc. This program has been in effect for the past 15 years and is being released again in electronic format to better meet the needs of our citizens. When we receive the completed form, two Fire Rescue Stickers will be mailed to the resident to affix to the front door of the home and the window of the bedroom of the resident with special needs. In addition, the information will be entered into our dispatch database. The information in the database is accessed by the firefighters from the fire engine while en route to the fire. It will alert them as to special hazards and conditions they must address to rescue the occupants from the structure.
Residents can Download the Special Needs Assessment Form and mail, fax, or deliver it to the fire department. All the information is maintained in strict confidence for use by emergency service providers only. Please remember to keep the fire department updated in case any information should change.
